- Try and find companies that are at their low and buy them up...just like the housing market..it's time to shop for deals. This is a great time for long term investors.
- You put every available dollar into solid companies whose prices are beaten down. Unless you are a very knowledgeable investor (and very few are) I would recommend simply buying a few mutual funds. That would get you professionals picking them for you and you would participate when ever markets recovered.
- I've been doing well being short financials. It's not even been necessary to pick and choose, they're all being beaten lower and lower, and it's not over yet. Check out SKF as one vehicle to do this, but be careful. It's a leveraged play.
- The best way is to learn how to pick stocks. There are always stocks making a move, regardless of broad market conditions.A site I recently found and realy like is Confident Trader. They know what they're doing and explain things very well. Take some time and look around, the perspective is unusual and the performance judging by their portfolio is outstanding, even in down markets.
- Use the "50% retracement rule" to decide when to buy and sell. google for it.
- Short sell. You make money when the market crashes.
