Can you please check my work about the free market economy? I have to write a paragraph each for the advantages and disadvantages of free market economy. Check if there are any mistakes in it please. Thanks! The advantages of a free market economy include: wide range of choices, possible high earnings and much more. A true free market economy is one in which the government aren’t involve in it whatsoever – there are no taxes. Everything within the economy is owned by private individuals and prices for any products and services are determined by the price mechanism. All decisions are made by these private buyers and sellers, and the free market assumes that they will act in their own self-interest. This means that producers aim to maximize their profits, and consumers aim to maximize their utility. With greater welfare being the ultimate goal, a free market economy provide an incentive to cut costs through better efficiency and labor productivity, and therefore encourages innovation in order to maximize profits. I'll post the other part... If there are advantages, there will definitely be disadvantages. This includes no welfare or state support of old or injured people. Therefore, having no work can lead to no money. Even with insurances, it can be very expensive. Like free healthcare or education would not exist, as these wouldn’t be funded by government – people would have to pay it themselves. Therefore, poor people might not be able to afford education and thus they won’t be able to find a well-paid job in the future. Consequently, the rich get better services. The rich get richer while the poor get quite poor. People on high incomes are able to buy more goods and services than the less well off, and consequently gain greater welfare. Finally, pollutions are not regulated in the free market, and therefore businesses would be free to destroy the environment without having to pay for their actions. Same for selling dangerous products (drugs, weapons, etc). Thanks for pointing out any mistakes I made.
Based on this define of Free Market Economy....? A free market is a market where the price of an item is arranged by the mutual consent of sellers and buyers, with the supply and demand of that item not being regulated by a government (see supply and demand); the opposite is a controlled market, where supply and price are set by a government. Is the US a Free Market Economy???? So are we a controlled ecoonomy?? (planned economy)
CHALLENGE:Walzer on free market economy and spheres of justice? How can Walzer be pro-free-market and at the same time criticize what he calls "Fetishism of Commodities" which is described as "Commodities mediate membership" Ownership and consumption define social membership in a community. How "free" can the free market be in Walzer's conception since he gives a list of "blocked exchanges?" What do these mean and why in his philosophy of justice, are warranted?
